The Sega CD and Mega CD were add-ons for the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive. It was released first in Japan in 1991 and throughout 1992 and 1993 in other territories. The console add-on had 320 times more storage than its parent console and benefited from better sound, more RAM, a faster processor, and some cool tech that allowed it to perform more tricks than the core Sega Genesis.
