Taking a look back at one of my favorite arcade games of all time, Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara! Released for arcade cabinets in 1996 by Capcom!
Dungeons & Dragons Arcade Game
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara is an arcade game developed and published by Capcom in 1996 as a sequel to Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom. The game is set in the Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting of Mystara.
Shadow over Mystara combines the side-scrolling gameplay of a beat 'em up with RPG elements. Shadow over Mystara was unique for an arcade game as it introduced ideas such as finding and equipping new gear and earning new spells as the player gains experience.
Multiple Endings
Another unique addition not found in arcade games at the time is the addition of multiple endings and forking paths. This gave the game a huge amount of re-playability and has made Shadow over Mystara a cult classic game.
